"Aaron's Gift"
Grade A-

Part 1. Name three techniques an author uses to create character and give an example from the story for each one.

A technique an author uses to create character is what the character says. An example is when Aaron yells, "Cossacks! Your all Cossacks!" This shows what the character's personality is like. Another technique is a characters physical description. An example is Aaron. Aaron is a ten year old boy. My last technique is what other characters say about another character. An example is Aaron's dad talking to Aaron's mom saying, "Sophie! Did you see this! Ten years old and its better than Dr. Belasco could do." Very Good!

You may change the form of the words.

assassinate - Alexander the second was assassinated, and Alexander the third became the czar.

stoop - Noreen was sitting on the stoop playing.

frenzy - The pigeon frenzied around with its broken wing.

mascot - Pidge was going to be the mascot to the new club Aaron was joining.

thrash - The pigeon stopped thrashing around when he saw cookie crumbs on the grass

3. Write a paragraph to answer this question. Be sure you relate your answer to the plot of the story.

Can a person "make up" for terrible things that have happened to someone else?

I think no because someone can try to "make up" for terrible things that happened in the past ,but no one can fix them. Although, a person can help make them feel better.

For example, Aaron's grandmother in the story had a pet goat in her childhood that she loved very much. Then one day the czar's horseman also know as Cossacks came thundering through her village destroying everything. When the villagers heard the cossacks coming they all hid in their cellars. Grandmother's family and grandmother were not able to bring grandmother's pet goat down because they were afraid it would make too much noise. After the pounding, screaming, and crashing died down one by one villagers came out from their cellars. When grandmother's family came out they saw their whole house had been torn apart and grandmother's pet goat on the floor dead. When grandmother found out she was very sad and wept all day.

When Aaron found out about his grandmother's childhood tragedy he felt bad and wanted to give her a replace pet. That pet was Pidge, the pigeon he had found. Aaron wasn't able to give Pidge to grandmother because Pidge had flown away when the boy gang down the street scared him. Grandmother was happy anyway because she was glad that the pigeon was able to be free and that Aaron tried to get her a wonderful present.

Good answer!
